Son remembers his ‘plus-sized, trash-reading redneck’ mother in savage viral obituary

A son’s obituary for his “plus-sized, trash-reading redneck” mother has gone viral after internet users couldn’t believe how brutal it was.

The obituary for Renay Mandel Corren, written by her son, was published in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette but has since garnered worldwide attention.

The man began the tribute to his late mother writing: “A plus-sized Jewish lady redneck died in El Paso on Saturday”

He continued, writing: “A more disrespectful, trash-reading, talking and watching woman in NC, FL or TX was not to be found.”

The less than complimentary obituary was tweeted by crime books author and NY Times book columnist Sarah Weinman and has been liked over 35,000 times.

In it, the son revealed that his mother was a prolific liar, but had the grace to add some of the things she was good at, including getting her nails done and dyeing her hair.

He wrote: “Yes, Renay lied a lot. But on the plus side, Renay didn’t cook, she didn’t clean, and she was lousy with money, too. Here’s what Renay was great at: dyeing her red roots, weekly manicures, dirty jokes, pier fishing, rolling joints and buying dirty magazines.”

Someone on Twitter wrote: “You could not anticipate the next word if you tried.”

They also highlighted the part where it is claimed Renay had an affair with Larry King in the 1960s.

Another person said: “Well, that was just a ride.”

The son’s satirical tribute continued: “We thought Renay could not be killed. God knows, people tried. A lot.”

Despite the brutal tribute, it’s clear the son loved his mother dearly and she was quite a character who will be missed.

The son asked readers: “Please think of the brightly-frocked, frivolous, funny and smart Jewish redhead who is about to grift you, tell you a filthy joke, and for Larry King’s sake: LAUGH.

“Bye, Mommy. We loved you to bits.”
