The son of Mike Lynch’s co-defendant in a US fraud trial has vowed to complete the run that he died on as a tribute to his father.
Stephen Chamberlain, 52, died after being hit by a car while out jogging in Cambridgeshire on Saturday morning.
The tragedy came just two days before Mr Lynch and five others were reported missing after luxury superyacht Bayesian sunk off the coast of Sicily in a violent storm.
Mr Chamberlain worked as former vice president of finance at Mr Lynch’s firm Autonomy.
He faced the same charges of fraud and conspiracy as his former boss for allegedly scheming to inflate the value of Autonomy, then Britain's largest software company, before it was sold.
Both men were acquitted of all 15 charges by a jury in San Francisco in June.
Mr Chamberlain was six miles into a morning run when he was struck by the vehicle on Newmarket Road, in the village of Stretham, according to data from his Strava account.
Cambridgeshire Police said the car's 49-year-old driver had remained at the scene and was assisting with enquiries.
On Tuesday, Mr Chamberlain’s son Teddy urged well-wishers to complete the run in his memory.
He wrote on Strava: “We are planning to complete this run for dad, if any of you would like to pay tribute and run it with us I will keep you updated. I'm sure we will make a post about the day and time at a later date. He was such an incredible man and the pain we feel is unimaginable.”
In a statement, Mr Chamberlain’s family said he was a much-loved husband, father, son, brother and friend.
"He was an amazing individual whose only goal in life was to help others in any way possible," they said.
“He made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but forever in the hearts of his loved ones.”
Meanwhile, rescue officials in Sicily were on Tuesday continuing to search for Mr Lynch, as well as his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.
Bayesian was moored around half-a-mile off the coast of Porticello when it sank at around 5am local time on Monday as the area was hit by a storm.
Fifteen of the 22 passengers and crew onboard – including Mr Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares – were rescued after escaping onto a lifeboat.
Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, and Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo are also confirmed among the missing. Mr Morvillo’s wife is also unaccounted for, the head of Sicily's Civil Protection said.
