Plans by son of Euromillions winner, Dolores McNamara, Gary to finally move to set up home on the luxury lake-side estate of Tinarana in east Clare are driving the Limerick man ‘batty’.
This follows the intervention of a Government department over the welfare of bats on the estate concerning Mr McNamara’s house planning application.
Last month, Gary McNamara and Michelle McNamara lodged plans for 'Stable Lodge' where they plan to renovate an existing house along with converting stable buildings and adding an extension for a family home on Tinarana Estate.

Now, the Dept of Housing and Heritage has lodged a submission with the Council over the McNamara application.
The Dept state that there is insufficient information in the application “to allay concerns regarding the impact of this development on local bat populations roosting in the application site”.
The Dept has requested that the Council require from the McNamaras a comprehensive bat survey detailing the extent of usage of the site by bats and hence the likely significant impact of the project on the species.
In a move that could stall the application for a number of months, the Dept has requested that the survey should be carried out in the Summer.
The planning application comes 11 years after the McNamara family splurged a reported €3.46m for the 19th century 16 bedroom home, Tinarana House and the adjoining 270 acres overlooking Lough Derg.
