Son Heung-min undergoes surgery and asks about 'exceptional' Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou

Son Heung-min required an operation after the end of the season and has already asked a Korean team-mate about new Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou.

The 30-year-old South Korean star still managed 20 direct goal involvements - 14 goals and six assist - despite a difficult season personally and for the struggling team as Tottenham finished eighth in the Premier League and will not have European football next season for the first time in 14 years.

This week it has been revealed in his homeland that Son had been dealing with a problem that required him to have surgery for a sports hernia after the final match of the season at Leeds United, before returning home to South Korea.

It has now been two weeks since the surgery and the Korean FA confirmed that the problem was not serious and Son is now undertaking recovery training sessions and they are monitoring his situation for their two international friendly games on Friday and Tuesday at home against Peru and El Salvador.

The word from the Korean FA is that Son is eager to play in both of the matches but the decision on his involvement will ultimately fall upon coach and former Spurs star Jurgen Klinsmann.

While on international duty, Celtic's Oh Hyeon-gyu also admitted that Son had asked him about his former boss Postecoglou who has left the Scottish club to become the new head coach of Spurs.

"He asked me about Ange's style - what he emphasizes, his style of play. I’ve only played for Ange for half a year, but I already know that he’s tactically exceptional. I believe he’ll succeed," said the attacker while with his international team, as quoted by Korean football writer Steve Han.
