Son Heung-min has endured a difficult 2022/23 campaign so far with the Tottenham star struggling to perform to the same levels as he did last season. The South Korean forward has scored just five goals in all competitions for Spurs and his problems in front of goal have continued at the World Cup.
Son registered 34 goal contributions in 45 appearances for the Lilywhites across all competitions last term and was influential in helping Antonio Conte's side secure a return to the UEFA Champions League. The 30-year-old is the star player for his country and was a doubt heading into the tournament in Qatar after fracturing his eye just weeks before it began on Sunday, November 18.
Son has not scored since his double against Eintracht Frankfurt for Spurs in the Champions League group stage back in October. The Tottenham striker has now gone eight games without a goal for club and country as his drought in front of goal continues into the World Cup.

After missing Spurs' final three fixtures before the World Cup break, there were concerns as to whether Son would be fit enough to play for his country in Qatar. The South Korean forward was passed fit and is able to play safely thanks to a face mask that protects his injured eye.
Son was left frustrated after South Korea's opening match of the tournament against Uruguay which ended in a 0-0 draw, with the 30-year-old having just five touches inside the opponents' penalty area. The Tottenham forward faced similar problems once again as he failed to get on the scoresheet against Ghana. He had just two shots in the match, both of which were blocked, while he dsiappointed with a number of corners into the box in the first half.
Cho Gue-sung scored twice in three minutes to get South Korea back on level terms after the Black Stars went into half-time 2-0 up. Mohammed Kudus grabbed his second and Ghana's third of the game just 10 minutes later as the pressure on Son's shoulders to find a vital equaliser grew as the minutes ticked away.
It is now seven games without a goal for Son who is now facing the end of his World Cup dream along with his country as South Korea sit third in Group H with a single point. A huge game against Portugal awaits South Korea in their final group stage fixture with their World Cup fate hanging in the balance.
