Son Heung-min was delighted to reach 100 Tottenham goals but there is one thing that left him feeling a little 'sad' after his latest effort.
The Spurs frontman netted to help his side to a comfortable 3-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, Jose Mourinho's men kicking off the new year in style.
The goal was a big landmark for Son as he hit goal number 100 for the club across all competitions and he admitted his delight over hitting his Tottenham century after the game, but he also pointed to one aspect of the game that left his feeling 'a bit sad'.
“Obviously, I’m very happy and grateful and the team-mates that have supported me," he told BT Sport.
"It’s not coming automatically, on my own, I need a lot of help for this big achievement and I’m really proud.
“I didn’t know that. To score 100 goals with one team, it’s big and I’m really proud and grateful. It’s a good thing to start the new year.
“We’re working hard and working through a long time, six years together, and we know each other really well. I’m a bit sad that I couldn't give an assist today to H. Harry always finds me so for my goal, he knew I was there. Obviously, the ball was perfect to me. Sometimes it’s telepathic, sometimes we’re talking about it."
Speaking about the partnership with Kane and whether it matters who is scoring the goals, Son added: "I really don’t mind. When we get the three points, it doesn’t matter who scores or gets the assists. We’re working hard every single time to get three points.
The win was much-needed for Mourinho's men after going four Premier League games without a win.
And speaking about the game in general terms, Son said: “It was very important because we dropped points and sometimes we were a bit unlucky. I think we’ve started the New Year well, back to winning ways, it’s very important.”
"It was a really difficult game. We knew how they were doing, they’re doing an unbelievable job and working so hard. We were creating chances from the start of the game and yeah, to get the clean sheet, 3-0, to start the new year, it’s fantastic."
