Son Heung-min makes bold Tottenham prediction after blunt three-word Arsenal verdict

Son Heung-min has claimed that Tottenham could still win the Premier League - just days after writing off Arsenal's title hopes ahead of Sunday's north London derby.

Spurs head into this weekend's crunch clash 11 points behind Mikel Arteta's side, who are aiming to dethrone Manchester City and claim their first domestic crown in over a decade under the Spaniard.

While Arsenal have thrived this term, Tottenham have found things tougher under Antonio Conte. The Londoners are, however, just two points outside the top four and still firmly in the race for the Champions League again after pipping Arsenal last season.

But Son has hinted that Spurs have grander aspirations this year ahead of their latest meeting with the Gunners - even though they are currently a long way off the pace at the summit of the Premier League.

A victory on Sunday would cut the gap between Tottenham and Arsenal to eight points. And Son hasn't given up hope that Spurs can claw back that deficit and mount a title challenge of their own between now and May. He said: "We don't prioritise the cups. The Premier League is long and something can always happen. Even Chelsea and Liverpool are pushing.

"There are so many games. We still believe in [winning the league] because this is a group of positive players. We should give everything we have but obviously, the Champions League and FA Cup are really important for the club, players and fans."

Tottenham head into Sunday's derby desperate to make amends against their bitter rivals after they were beaten 3-1 in the reverse fixture back at the start of October.

Since then, Arsenal have gone on a remarkable run; Arteta's men have only dropped points three times this season and are in pole position when it comes to the title race after opening up a healthy advantage over Manchester City.

Despite that, Son wrote off their title chances last weekend following Tottenham's win over Portsmouth in the FA Cup, when he insisted he and his team-mates were "not interested" in the Gunners' current league standing.

And the Spurs forward also revealed that he and the rest of the squad would be putting in extra homework in the build-up to the match in a bid to get one over on Arteta's men.

He added: "We lost against them in the away game, so we have a lot of homework [this week] to make it good again. I think the fans were really disappointed when we lost at the Emirates, so I think we have a massive task at home. Everybody must be ready to throw their bodies in and we're good to go."
