'Something's amiss' - Liverpool sent 'fear' warning in worrying Ajax Champions League prediction

Liverpool have been tipped to once again drop points in the Champions League when they face Ajax tonight.

The Reds take on the Eredivisie champions at Anfield in their second Group A clash this evening. Liverpool were beaten 4-1 by Napoli in their first fixture of the competition this term.

Ajax go into tonight’s game in good form, having beaten Rangers 4-0 in their first group game. The Dutch club also claimed a 5-0 victory over Heerenveen in the league at the weekend.

Liverpool haven’t played since their defeat to Napoli last week, after the Premier League match against Wolves was postponed. Former Blackburn striker Chris Sutton says he “fears” the Reds will drop points against Ajax, and has predicted a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

“I kept thinking because of what Liverpool have achieved in previous seasons that it was only a blip they were in,” Sutton wrote for the Mail Online.

“But with the way Napoli won 4-1 and made Liverpool's defence look like tourists on an Italian holiday, it has become more than that. Something's amiss there.

“From Virgil van Dijk at the back to Mohamed Salah up front, they've not been clicking.

“Liverpool's players lapped up the praise when they were on song. Now we need to see how they respond when they're hitting bum notes. Ajax will have a go.

“They're fearless and beat Rangers 4-0 last week. There's no time to waste for Liverpool to get their season back on track, but I fear Ajax will take something away from Anfield.”
