Somerset firms launch bid to protect environment around Taunton

Business leaders in Taunton are working together in the hopes of protecting the environment in and around the Somerset town.

Law firm Clarke Willmott and chartered accountancy practice Albert Goodman, which are both based at Blackbrook Business Park, have launched the initiative in a bid to make a "positive impact" on the planet, they said.

A number of other companies at the business park have already pledged to get involved in the Blackbrook Green Forum, according to the organisers behind the scheme.

The forum is expected to meet quarterly and will bring together businesses that would like to take "proactive steps" towards improving the environment. The group's first activity, a litter-picking morning, took place earlier this month.

Other initial ideas include inter-company car sharing, more electric points and an increased drive on recycling.

Dale Edwards, strategy consultant for green energy at Clarke Willmott, said: “Partnering with Albert Goodman on such a worthy cause is fantastic as we always enjoy working with the team.

"We hope that through the forum we can preserve and enhance our surroundings with like-minded people who are all keen to take responsibility."

Sophie Parkhouse, partner at Albert Goodman, said inviting local businesses to get involved in the vision was "really exciting".

“Blackbrook Business Park has a real collaborative feel about it and by joining forces with Clarke Wilmott and other businesses right on our doorstep to make a positive impact feels like a step in the right direction," she added.
