Somerset bathroom firm secures record £40m of new contracts

Somerset manufacturing firm Offsite Solutions has reported a record order intake with nearly £40m of new contracts secured.

The company, based in Highbridge, said it would make 10,000 ready-assembled bathroom and shower pods units for residential projects, a “significant increase” on the same period last year.

Among its new contract wins were nearly 1,000 shower pods for student projects in Birmingham and London; around 850 pods for a £260m build-to-rent development in Hove, East Sussex and more than 900 pods across three new projects for construction firm Wates for mixed tenure residential schemes.

Offsite Solutions fully fits the bathrooms at its factory in Isleport Business Park, before they are later dropped into position onsite as the buildings’ structures are constructed.

Managing director James Stephens said the outlook for the business was “buoyant” despite the “uncertain” economic climate. He said the company had a “solid forward order book” which it was looking to add more developers and contractors to.

A substantial proportion of the order intake is for long-term repeat customers, according to Offsite Solutions, including developers such as Fusion Students; Downing; Moda; Urbanest; and contractors including Galliford Try; Vinci; Mace; Wates; Willmott Dixon; and Winvic.

"We are also delighted to see new clients and contractors using our pods – Telford Homes, Equans, IQ Student Accommodation, Midgard, and RG Group," Said Mr Stephens. “We are definitely benefiting from the surge in interest in offsite manufacturing and MMC which are transforming UK construction. Bathroom pods are fast becoming a preferred method of procurement for many developers and contractors.”

One of a series of million-pound contract wins secured last year, saw the firm provide nearly 1,000 pods for one of the UK’s largest build-to-rent development schemes, The Cherry Park project, opposite London’s Westfield Stratford City shopping centre.
