Some Sky TV users get 7 extra channels today and they are totally free to watch

Homes across the UK will be treated to a big Sky TV boost today with seven additional channels arriving on the firm's streaming platforms. The update means that those with a Sky Glass television or Sky Stream set-top box will now be able to watch movies, classic shows and more from the GREAT! service.

Once the free upgrade arrives, the additional channels will include GREAT! Romance, GREAT! Movies, GREAT! Action and GREAT! TV.

Films and shows currently available via these stations include Bridget Jone's Baby, Terminator Salvation, Call Me By Your Name, Diagnosis Murder and the Resident Evil Collection.

It's all totally free to watch and there are no additional subscription charges to pay.

Along with that more adult content, kids are also getting a boost thanks to full access to the POP platform which includes the POP channel along with Tiny Pop and Pop Max. It's worth noting that all of the channels arriving today on Glass and Stream have been available on Sky Q for sometime so it's good to see the streaming services now catching up.

Here are all of the channels and their position on the planner.

• GREAT! TV – Ch 167

• GREAT! Romance – Ch 317

• GREAT! Movies – Ch 318

• GREAT! Action – Ch 319

• POP – Ch 213

• Tiny Pop – Ch 214

• Pop Max – Ch 215

Sky Glass TV (GETTY)

Mirror Online has checked Sky Glass this morning and the update hasn't arrived just yet but we'll keep you posted as soon as it lands.

Never heard of Sky Glass or Stream?

These devices are relative newcomers to Sky's lineup of gadgets. Both launched back in 2021 although Sky Stream was originally only available to those buying a Glass TV. That changed last year with Stream boxes now on sale to all customers with prices starting from £26 per month.

Both Glass and Stream use the web to beam content into homes which means there's no need for a dish to be stuck to the walls.

This makes installation a breeze and there's no need for an engineer to visit. In fact, Sky Stream is sent out in the post with users then plugging things in and watching shows in seconds.

Sky Glass which starts from £40 per month, also comes with its own screen and in-built soundbar. There's three options to choose from including 43-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch models.

All of Sky's new devices also offer easy access to all of the latest streaming services including Disney+, Netflix, Apple TV+ and Prime Video.
