Some of Merseyside's favourite teachers nominated by ECHO readers

With teachers welcoming children back to school last week, it's time to acknowledge the amazing work they do each year.

Teachers play a vital role in both our education and shaping us as individuals, and those who take the time to go the extra mile for their students deserve praise as it never goes unrecognized.

We asked ECHO readers for their favourites and we received many responses naming teachers who left a lasting impression for all the right reasons.

Today he's starting high school a confident happy young man, we won't ever forget how much they went above and beyond for him and us."

Maria Wilson also said: "I’ll second that she is amazing my son done so well in GTBG with the help of her and she will go out the way to help us as the parents."

Stacy Skerry added: "Shell Davies same with my Alfie, I will be forever grateful for you and the lads at GTBH for taking my him in and making him the boy he is today, you believed in him when his school was ready to give up and you’ve made him like school again, thank you you're the best."

Cath Delaney -

Amanda Victoria said: "Cath Delaney my German teacher! Will never forget her, one of the few teachers I liked, she always had time for her students, always made me say sorry I’m late in German (which was a lot) but it’s never left me - there’s always that one teacher you take with you when you leave and she was mine."

Mr Murphy, Liscard Primary -

Emma Louise Kenchington said: "Mr Murphy year 6 teacher who has recently left Liscard Primary, unfortunately! Been a teacher for years taught two of my children and always went above and beyond to do the best for them, understand them, teach them in a way that made the lessons fun so they retained focus, supported them in any way he could, he bought my daughter a reading book before she left in year 6 as he always wanted to encourage his students and do the best for them! The kids that left year 6 without buying their last class photo, he put his hand in his own pocket and paid for those that missed out when parents couldn't afford to buy it. Massive loss to Liscard Primary School!"
