Solway Sharks aim for quadruple after play-off success

The Solway Sharks secured back-to-back trebles at the weekend – and are setting their sights on an unprecedented quadruple.

The Sharks travelled to Planet Ice Altrincham for the NIHL N1 Moralee play-off weekend with the cup and league already in the bag.

The Dumfries Ice Bowl side swept away their competition on Saturday with a convincing 11-1 win over the Solihull Barons to set up a crunch clash with the Whitley Bay Warriors in Sunday’s final.

The Warriors had an impressive semi-final win themselves as they beat Billingham Stars 5-3 in Saturday’s other last-four encounter.

But they were no match for Martin Grubb’s side who won a much closer tie 2-0.

That has given the Sharks the North Cup, NIHL N1 title and Moralee play-off championship and sets up a tantalising north vs south rematch for the NIHL1 Championship on Sunday at Planet Ice, Coventry.

Streatham Redhawks will be the opponents for the Sharks in a re-run of last year’s final which the Sharks won 4-2.
