Soho Home venture into bathrooms: Here’s how to recreate the Soho House bathroom

You don’t need to be a member of Soho House to be a fan of its interior style - defined as laid-back luxury.

One peek at any of the group’s inimitable private member’s clubs and you’ll fall head over heels for its rich textures, plush materials and 1920s-inspired furniture juxtaposed with contemporary art and lighting. It’s a balance the brand has honed in the 28 years since the first Greek Street location launched and is something many design enthusiasts have sought to mimic in their own abodes.

In 2016, when its own label - Soho Home - launched, it made that dream a tangible reality, giving customers a chance to recreate the chic aesthetic with a few well-placed investments. These are exact pieces that you’ll find in Houses around the world - be it the warm hues of Soho House Rome, the relaxed Scandi style of Soho House Stockholm, the earthy boho tones of Soho Roc House in Mykonos or the visual feast of textures that defines Soho House Mumbai.

The collection extends to almost every room in the house. There are glass chandeliers to create a statement in drawing rooms, marble-adorned tables for the dining room and even outdoor furniture. But what was curiously missing was bathroom style - until now.

Soho Home has ventured into the WC. Get ready to redesign your wetroom with its trio of vanity units plucked from Holloway House, Soho House Paris and the celebrity-favourite, Soho Farmhouse. These are functional furniture pieces, offering a wealth of storage for your wellness essentials. There’s also lighting, mirrors and accessories.

Before we dive into the product offering, we caught up with Domhnall Nolan, Senior Designer at Soho House to find out how to create a Soho House bathroom. He details that it’s a three-part play:

  • Lighting: “In our Houses, we create flattering lighting schemes in the bathrooms by positioning two wall sconces at face height on either side of the vanity mirror. We choose light fittings or shades that diffuse the light softly, like mottled or textured glass, or a pleated, fabric shade.”
  • Mixing textures: “Mixing tile finishes not only bring interest to the space, but breaks up dark or bold colours. Position matte and glazed tiles in a chequerboard pattern, especially in a rich colour like burgundy, for added depth.”
  • Concentrating on one feature: “Invest some of your budget in one stand-out moment like the vanity as this is where you will spend a lot of your time. I love interesting or glamorous taps and as they are constantly in use, it makes sense to hero them.”

Soho Home The Carlisle

The Carlisle is a vanity that you may have spotted if you’ve ever frequented the West Hollywood-based Holloway House. Much like the interior style of this bolthole, the solid oak piece has a 1960s feel with a mid-century design that is imbued through the dark wood panelling and geometric shape.

It comes in two sizes; single (H86.4 x W91.4 x D62.2cm, £2,995) and double (H86.4 x W150 x D62.2cm, £4,995). There’s also Carrara or Black Marquina marble for the setting around the basin.

Soho Home The Valerie

In the heart of Pigalle, you’ll find the artistic paradise of Soho House Paris. The interiors combine an Art Deco leaning with the 1940s, a design style that so accurately describes this ash burl vanity with its vintage aesthetic and curvaceous silhouette. The top and backsplash are made from Arabescato Corchia marble, while the handles are Carrara marble.

It comes in two sizes; single (H110 x W93.5 x D63.5cm, £3,995) and double (H109.8 x W191 x D63.5cm, £6,995).

Soho Home The Lusso

The sprawling retreat of Soho Farmhouse is a celebrity-favourite haunt that you’ll have spotted on your Instagram feed - think retro bikes, curved cabins and homely huts. The interior design style is defined by its natural finishes and so The Lusso is right at home in the bathrooms with its aged oak construction, cane drawers and forged twisted handles - and it will be in your space too. But in the group’s signature style vintage meets contemporary with the adornment of the marble splashback.

It comes in two sizes; single (H96 x W91.4 x D58.4cm, £2,995) and double (H96 x W130 x D58.4cm, £6,995).
