Sodden RQ braces for super Saturday as rain clears

Elvis Smylie heads a stacked field ahead of a high-stakes Australian PGA Championship penultimate round.

Torrential rain in Brisbane eventually took its toll at Royal Queensland's riverside layout, with no play possible on Friday.

It prompted officials to reduce the $2 million showpiece to a three-round event.

It means the full field will return on Saturday, the top half who make the cut graduating to a shootout for the title on Sunday.

Victorian Matias Sanchez and a trio of Europeans - Cristobel Del Solar, Victor Perez and Joel Girrbach - are one shot behind Gold Coaster Smylie.

Major winners Cameron Smith and Jason Day (four under), playing in the marquee group with defending champion Min Woo Lee (three under), are right in the mix.
