More than 114,500 carers across the country will be paid a €500 bonus payment tomorrow.
The payment is one of eight once-off lump sums that was announced in Budget 2023. Those availing of the Working Family Payment, the Living Alone increase, the Fuel Allowance and Disability Allowance all received bonus payments earlier this week.
In October, a double child benefit payment and a double social welfare payment were made. The Christmas bonus social welfare payment will be issued the week starting December 5.

Tomorrow's €500 lump sum will be paid to anyone who qualifies for the Carer's Support Grant. The bonus payment will only be paid once per carer, even if they are caring for more than one person.
The Carer's Support Grant is usually paid in June to anyone receiving the Carer's Allowance and had a rate of €1,850 for each person getting care this year. From January 2023, the maximum rate of Carer's Allowance will increase by €12 with proportional increases for people on reduced rates of payment.
The weekly rate for a qualified child will increase by €2 from €40 to €42 for children under 12 years of age. It will increase by €2 from €48 to €50 for children aged 12 years and over.
