Social welfare Ireland: First double payment announced in Budget 2023 expected next week

The first of two double weekly welfare payments will be paid next week, the Government is expected to announce today.

The autumn double payment will be paid from next Monday, October 17. This is earlier than expected as it was initially thought that the payment would be issued closer to Halloween.

The double payment will benefit 1.4 million people including pensioners and carers. There will be a second double payment made before Christmas.

Today, Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys, and Public Expenditure Minister Michael McGrath are expected to unveil the full list of bonus payment dates announced in Budget 2023, worth €1.2 billion. This includes a double child benefit payment which will be paid on the week beginning November 1.

The fuel allowance lump sum of €400 will be issued during the week starting November 14. A €200 lump sum payment will also be issued from November 14 to those on the living alone allowance.

A €500 cost of living payment will be made to those receiving the working family payment and a €500 disability support grant will also be paid that week. Carers will receive their €500 payment from November 21.
