There's a boost for families in store amidst the cost of living crisis.
That's because the Child Benefit, which every family with children in Ireland is entitled to, is going to be issued early due to the May Bank Holiday. While the payment is normally issued on a Tuesday - due to bank closures - families will receive it on Friday or Saturday this week.
The change will also be a positive change for those on other social welfare payments. Those who are due a payment on Monday will also receive it a few days earlier.

The same change is also expected to have an impact in June - when families are set to receive an extra €100 as part of their Child Benefit. Rather than receiving it on the first Tuesday of the month, they will receive it a few days early due to the June Bank Holiday.
The €100 bonus was announced as part of the Government's cost of living package announced in February. There will be six more Child Benefit payments in 2023 once June is over.
Those payment dates are:
- Tuesday July 4 2023
- Tuesday August 1 2023
- Tuesday September 5 2023
- Tuesday October 3 2023
- Tuesday November 7 2023
- Tuesday December 5 2023
