Social media reacts after 4-star DB commits to Georgia

Four-star defensive back recruit Jontae Gilbert has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. Gilbert is commitment No. 23 for the Bulldogs in the class of 2025.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback is Georgia’s fifth defensive back commitment in the class of 2025, so the Dawgs are nearly set in the secondary. Gilbert plays high school football for Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Georgia is really tapping into the Peach State in the 2025 cycle.  Fourteen of Georgia’s 23 commitments in the 2025 cycle are in-state prospects. For reference, last recruiting cycle the Bulldogs signed only 10 in-state recruits.

Gilbert is ranked as the No. 19 cornerback in the nation, per 247Sports. Gilbert is the No. 138 prospect in the nation and the No. 19 recruit in Georgia.

Now, the Bulldogs have the second-best recruiting class in the SEC behind Alabama and the No. 3 recruiting class in the country.

Georgia football fans, coaches and media are fired up on social media following Jontae Gilbert’s commitment to UGA.
