Alex, 38, spent most of her playing career at Arsenal and played 140 times for England. Since retiring in 2018 she has appeared as a pundit on BBC Sport, BT Sport, and Sky Sports. She also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 - finishing fifth.
Speaking ahead of Soccer Aid Alex said: “I think over the last couple of years, it’s been great for Soccer Aid to start including females and off the back of the win last year, with the Lionesses, and for Jill to go into the jungle and win, I think it’s just a natural step for her to be involved this year.”
She continued: “It’s becoming that thing now where young boys and girls will be watching Soccer Aid, or during the World Cup, and it’s not even a thing to see a woman now commentating on a men’s match.
“And this isn’t just a men’s Soccer Aid, it’s for everyone to feel a part of, and that’s what we’re showing.”
