Soak up spring with a virtual tour of the Netherlands' famous tulip fields

Spring is well and truly here, which means the Netherlands’ famous tulips are in full bloom.

While the Foreign Office has advised against all non-essential travel indefinitely, you can still view this year’s most spectacular showcase of the Dutch national flower straight from your living room.

The Keukenhof Flower Exhibit, which has been taking place since 1857, is the world’s largest bulb-flower garden. For this year’s exhibit the organisers planted over 7 million bulbs showcasing 800 varieties of tulip.

As the exhibition has been cancelled for 2020, due to the current coronavirus pandemic, Keukenhof has decided to take the show online, posting a series of YouTube videos that keen flower enthusiasts can watch from home.

In the first video (which has already amassed over 230K views), the park’s managing director, Bart Siemerink says: “Because you cannot visit Keukenhof right now, we decided to bring Keukenhof to you! In the upcoming weeks we will show you the most beautiful places of the park.”

In total, there are currently 11 videos from this year’s floral exhibition, with new videos being uploaded almost daily to show the tulips in bloom.

From the on-site gardeners walking you through the show’s process to sweeping panoramas of the colourful tulip fields, you can view all of these videos here.
