They provide support to your neck and upper back when sleeping, so if you're using the wrong pillow, you can do some real damage to these areas. It's therefore important to consider this when shopping around.
Last month, Soak&Sleep introduced shredded memory foam to its new Classic Memory Foam collection. The launch included its Shredded Memory Foam Pillow, an adaptable pillow that can be adjusted to support your head and neck. I've been trying it out for the past few weeks, and it's been really interesting testing a kind of memory foam that I haven't experienced before.

Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow review: unboxing and set up
The Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow arrived in a plastic carry case, and was easy to unpack and set up. I popped a cotton pillow case over the top as recommended, and placed it on my bed ready for a few weeks of reviewing.
Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow review: design and features
As labelled, the Soak&Sleep pillow is made from shredded memory foam. Compared to traditional memory foam, shredded memory foam is made of multiple pieces of foam rather than a dense single piece, allowing air to circulate more freely.
Soak&Sleep's pillow is specifically designed to support the head and neck, and moulds around its user's head for a perfectly supported sleep. As the pillow uses multiple cuts of memory foam, users can remove any unwanted fill if the pillow is too plump, bringing a nice personalised edge.
There's also a built-in mesh side panel that's designed for improved airflow. This helps the pillow's flexibility, allowing for a more refreshing night's sleep.
Surrounding the pillow is a removable polyester quilted jersey case quilt. This has a nice smooth, soft feel, and is incredibly comfortable from any angle. However, it should be noted that the pillow is still designed to be used with a regular pillowcase.
Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow review: performance
I'm pleased with the Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow, and have enjoyed sleeping on it over the past few weeks. It's a really comfortable pillow, and I particularly like how supportive it feels. As someone who usually sleeps with two standard pillows, I've found using the Soak&Sleep pillow on its own absolutely fine, and didn't find myself needing to adjust the fill.
Its quilted fabric has also been comfortable, and it brings a nice softness to a pillow that's already on the firmer side. I found it breathable and light, and didn't become overheated when sleeping. I often struggle finding the perfect sleeping temperature, so this was extremely enjoyable.
The Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow is on the firmer side of medium, so I'd suggest going for a different option if you're looking for something softer. However, as someone who benefits from a firm pillow, I would say it's the perfect balance.
After a few nights, I realised the pillow wasn't moulding to my head as stated. Don't get me wrong, there was still a lot of support there, but it's clear that shredded memory foam works in a completely different way to traditional memory foam. I did try taking some of the fill out, but things didn't feel much different.
Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow review: verdict
I've really enjoyed using the Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow, and found it to be the perfect balance between firm and comfortable. It also has a variety of beneficial features, such as a comfortable quilted fabric and built-in mesh side panel. However, it doesn't exactly mould to your head, so go for a different option if you prefer traditional memory foam. That being said, it's still extremely supportive and costs under £20, so it's a thumbs up from us.
Soak&Sleep Shredded Memory Foam Pillow review: alternatives to consider
If you’re looking for a soft but firm pillow that supports your head and neck, the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow is a great alternative to consider. It’s made of premium bamboo that has temperature regulating properties, and the cover is super soft and springy to the touch. It's a little pricier, but our reviewer found it really improved her quality of sleep.
If you wanting something softer but would like to stick with Soak & Sleep, another choice would be the Soak&Sleep Supremely Soft as Down pillow. It's made of two different types of microfibre which offers a similar feel to down feathers, and is extremely soft, fluffy and affordable.
