Liverpool has a "deserved reputation for giving" but the city region was in shock after "heartbreaking" news a man had died on the streets.
It was previously reported that just yards away from a busy carriageway, a man believed to have been sleeping rough took his last breaths.
However, Merseyside Police have still not been able to identify him more than two weeks after his body was found off Dinas Lane in Huyton.

People right across Merseyside have paid their tributes to the unknown man after his "heartbreaking" death.
One ECHO reader said: "So many are falling under the radar. It's very sad."
A second added: "Liverpool has a deserved reputation for giving. That’s why so many groups come here to collect for their causes. It might not solve the social problem but the impulse to give is good."
A third wrote: "This is heart-breaking, the poor man dying alone and no-one to care about him. This is why we have to care for people. There for the grace of God go us. RIP fella."
The unidentified man's final resting place is a bleak patch of overgrown land which was the site of a long-since demolished pub, The Farmer's Arms, according to locals.
For the people living and working close by, the man's death was a surprise.
So far his cause of death has not been found, although police believe there are no suspicious circumstances around his death.
Knowsley Council said that the man does not appear to have been known to services and hose with knowledge of the homelessness support sector say he may have been ineligible for support.
One ECHO reader said: "This is what happens when people have got nowhere to go or help. Rip."
Penny Rogers said: "Anybody can lose everything and end up with nothing. We should be better rather than let people die in poverty."
