So long, Glazed Donut! Hailey Bieber is embracing a maximalist mani this summer

Hailey Bieber's maximalist nails mark the end of an era, as she sheds her now-iconic glazed donut nails for summer 2023.

While Hailey Bieber's pearly nails (first debuted at the 2022 Met Gala) have dominated the nail trends for the past year, the model and Rhode founder now seems to be ditching her subtle opalescent look, for something a bit louder.

Taking to Instagram, Hails debuted a brand new set of multicolored nails—with every fingertip repping a different statement pattern and shade...

Hailey Bieber's maximalist nails

While also sharing another glimpse at her chic earring game, Hailey Bieber took to her IG to debut her brand new mani, with not even a smidge of chrome detailing in sight!

Instead, Hailey Bieber's multi-colored nails feature a mixture of vibrant and dopamine shades and patterns, from simple dots to a yellow and pink gradient nail and even what looks to be a tortoiseshell French tip on her pinky finger. All complimented by Hailey's tattoos, sprawling over her fingers.

She also took to her story to share her inspo pic, which showed a similar set of abstract nail designs on each fingertip.

Detailing the look further, Liana Thomson beauty expert at Nails.co.uk says: "Breaking away from her signature glazed donut nails, Hailey surprised her followers with a different style of manicure. Each nail boasts a unique pattern, perfectly blending nine vibrant colors that scream summer. Among the stunning shades featured are green, lemon, purple, raspberry pink, baby blue, black, white, pale pink, yellow-orange, and lime."

Thomson also adds that 'maximalist' nail looks are definitely on the rise: "This is possibly influenced by major concerts like Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, Harry Styles' Love on Tour, and Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour where attendees have worn flamboyant, sparkly, and colorful outfits. Influencers are embracing the trend of bold and vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and eye-catching embellishments."

Clearly, despite dabbling with a passionfruit glazed nail look and even a marble neon green moment for Coachella, Hailey is bored of the minimalist and low-key vibe and may have just sparked yet another nail trend. Perhaps we should take this as a sign to opt for our own maximalism-themed nail look!

How to recreate Hailey's statement nail look

Like with Hailey's OG nails, she's opted for a mid-length, oval shape. Pattern-wise, while you could definitely attempt these designs with some nail brushes, we'd recommend following Hailey's lead and taking an inspo pic to your local nail tech.

The design itself is very customizable, so you can adapt Hailey's look to something unique to you, or go for a similar color palette to Hailey's—which features hints of yellow, pink, grey, red, black, white and nude. Be advised though, a more intricate nail design will likely cost you more than the classic glazed mani!

If you're looking to try this mani at home, Liana Thomson has also shared some insight into achieving Hailey's marbled nail look at home: "Hailey has opted for a spotted effect with varying shapes and sizes on eight of her nails. One nail features a marble design, while another flaunts a yellow/orange French tip. The beauty of this trend lies in its abstract nature, allowing for imperfections in the spotted effect which makes it a perfect DIY manicure."

  1. Opt for two colors to create the marble effect that you desire.
  2. Place a generous amount of each nail polish on a wipeable surface, creating two adjacent stripes. For example, if you chose black and pink, create one stripe of black, followed by pink, and then another black and pink stripe next to it.
  3. Then grab a toothpick and lightly swirl the two colors together, creating a beautiful marble pattern.
  4. Next, scoop up a portion of the swirled polish using a small, flat nail brush, and gently paint it onto your nail.
  5. Thomsom then adds that if you desire a clear-centered stripe like Hailey's, you can apply the marble effect onto a clear nail and then carefully wipe away some of the excess polish.
