SOCIALIST members of the SNP have announced an event with Stephen Flynn and Mhairi Black.
The special interest group, started in 2016, aims to bring together socialist members of the SNP to discuss and educate the wider membership on a shared vision for an independent Scotland.
The event with the parties Westminster leader and depute leader will be held on Zoom on Thursday 22 June at 7.30pm.
Co-convenor Kat Cary said: “SNP Socialists are proud of how many active elected members we have in the group, and we are delighted to have Mhairi and Stephen speaking at our next meeting.
“While we are not officially affiliated with the SNP, we are all SNP members who are an active voice for the left inside the party and a visible and vocal SNP presence at protests, picket lines, demos and rallies across Scotland.”
The groups website states: “There have been socialist members of our Party since its formation in the 1930s, pragmatically fighting for Scottish independence in the belief that it is a crucial first step towards socialism and we believe that, with the increase in membership in recent years, an organised group of such members can play a progressive and constructive role in our Party.
“We want socialist members of the SNP to know that they do have a home and a voice in the SNP and that they can play a constructive role in taking Scotland forward.”
