SNP MP brands price of new Scotland kit a 'disgrace'

AN SNP MP has branded the price of the Scotland National Team’s new kit a “disgrace”.

The new kit received a very positive reaction when it was first announced on Twitter although many on social media have taken issue with the price.

It has been launched to mark 150 years of the Scottish FA and will be worn by the team on Saturday when they play Cyprus.

Writing on social media, SNP MP Gavin Newlands said: “Was going to buy this stunning @adidasfootball @ScotlandNT 150th anniversary top, but I have to say the price they’ve set is an absolute disgrace.

“£90 is far too much at any time, but it’s unforgivable, during a #CostOfLivingCrisis. The @ScottishFA and @JDSports need to rethink.”

Strips for youngsters meanwhile have been priced at £70.

Newlands wasn’t the only one to take issue with the price, with one fan writing about “the absurdity of charging fans £90 during the worst cost of living crisis in living memory”.

Another said that it was a “cracking shirt but too expensive” while somebody else added that it was “utterly ridiculous pricing”.

“£90 quid? Nah”, said one user while somebody else wrote on Twitter that it was a “disgrace”.

A JD Sports spokesperson said: "We have seen strong demand for the Scotland 150th anniversary kit.

"We are working hard to ensure as many customers as possible can buy these anniversary shirts in store or online.

"JD is proud to be the exclusive retailer of the SFA."

The SFA has been contacted for comment.
