SNP gain in Dundee as Nadia El-Nakla wins seat

NADIA El-Nakla has secured a council seat in Dundee for the SNP as the party celebrated a gain in the city's West End ward.

El-Nakla, who is married to SNP minister Humza Yousaf, becomes an elected member having scooped 924 first-preference votes alongside SNP running mate Bill Campbell and LibDems Fraser Macpherson and Michael Crichton, as Alex Cole-Hamilton's party celebrated picking up a seat.

Health Secretary Yousaf shared his delight on Twitter 

Other results from the city have been declared including in the Lochee ward where Labour's Wendy Scullin and Charlie Malone secured seats alongside the SNP's Roisin Smith and Siobhan Tolland.

In the Strathmartine ward, the SNP's John Alexander and Stewart Hunter became councillors alongside Labour's Kevin Keenan and the LibDems' Daniel Coleman.
