Snow maps show huge swathes of UK will be affected by the white stuff as yellow and amber warnings have been issued.
The Met Office have issued an hour by hour forecast as many parts of the UK have a yellow and snow ice warning for today and tomorrow.
Brits have been warned by the weather forecaster that they should expect delays on the roads and public transport over the next few days as temperatures drop and bitter winter conditions return.
The forecaster has issued an amber warning for snow in the north of Scotland, between Aberdeen and Inverness.
Between 3pm today and midnight tonight, the Met Office have said that this warning will bring "heavy snow" that "will lead to travel disruption".
They have advised Brits that they should plan their journeys in advance as travel delays on roads are likely, and it is likely that there may be some "delays and cancellations to rail and air travel".
Those living in the affected areas of the amber warnings have been warned that there is a "good chance" that some rural communities may be cut off, including experiencing power cuts.
According to the forecaster, the amber warning will not carry over into Wednesday, 18 January.
Meanwhile, for the rest of the country, yellow snow and ice warnings have been issued for today and tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 January.
For areas in the south, such as London, Brighton and Portsmouth, a yellow ice warning has been issued for 6pm today until 12pm tomorrow, with a snow and ice warning being added for tomorrow - from 6pm until 12pm.
Due to the ice warning in the capital, Londoners have been urged to warp up warm. Temperatures will feel as low as -5C in the early hours of tomorrow morning despite clear conditions, the Met Office says.
For Cornwall and Wales, a yellow warning is also in place for 6pm today until 12pm tomorrow, as the Met Office have warned that "snow showers and icy stretches may cause some disruption".
Temperatures will drop to as low as 1C overnight in Cardiff, Wales, as the Met Office have said that temperatures will feel more like -3C.
And for areas such as Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Stoke-On-Trent, a yellow snow and ice warning is also in place from today lasting until tomorrow.
The warning will be implemented from lunchtime today, 12pm, until 12am tomorrow. The same warning will also be in place from 12pm until 12am on Wednesday, 18 January.
Northern Ireland also has the same yellow warnings in place; from 12pm until 12am today, and the same tomorrow.
And in Belfast, temperatures will feel as cold as -3C overnight, the forecaster has warned, as tomorrow will only see temperatures reach as high as 3C.
Brits have been warned they should expect delays with their travel as some roads and railways will be "affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services" due to the warnings.
