Snow links: Leeds school closures, bus, rail, air and traffic, Friday December 3: Updated

Many Leeds schools are still closed today after this week's deluge of snow, but some are reopening with revised hours.

For official information, try the Education Leeds schools closures page - but, as per the past few days, be patient as the page has been experiencing heavy web traffic.

Ice on the roads is a major problem today as overnight temperatures dipped to minus eight degrees centigrade. Police are today urging people to drive with care.

Metro is warning that ice and snow means that once again bus services are likely to be sticking to main roads in some areas with delays expected. Some local train services also suspended. Catch the latest here.

The following services are affected:

* 117 main roads only, missing Gawthorpe.
* 153 not serving Landale Road.
* 173/174/175 – main roads only not serving Ringways, Nev Grove, Ledsham, Ledston Village.
* 209/219/229 - main roads only not serving Hartshead & Smithesmoor Lane.
* 217 missing Netherton Estate.
* 220/222 - main roads only, not serving Howden Clough, Woodlands, Winyard Drive & Magpie Lane.
* 221 - main roads only not serving Dale Lane, Brighton Street & Peel Street.
* 254/255/X25 - main roads only not serving Windy Bank.
* 481 –main roads only, not serving not serving St Marys.

As per yesterday, there's also a reduced East Coast train service and some local Northern services. Find out the latest here.

Leeds Bradford International Airport continues to remain operational, but some delays may be experienced. Passengers should also allow additional time for your journey to the airport. For further information please contact your airline or Tour Operator. Alternatively, view live arrival and departure information by using the tabs at the top of the airport's home page.

UPDATED 8.44am: There are various rail problems on Northern today, including a failed train at Burley-in-Wharfedale (0602 Leeds - Ilkley).

Metro reports services have resumed on:

* Full timetable on the Airedale / Wharfedale / Leeds - Bradford F Sq. routes
* All services through Castleford Station;
o Leeds - Castleford - Wakefield Kirkgate - Sheffield.
o Leeds - Castleford - Pontefract Monkhill - Knottingley.
* All services through Rotherham Station

The following routes remain suspended:

* Knottingley - Goole
* Wakefield Kirkgate - Featherstone - Pontefract Monkhill - Knottingley
* Sheffield - Barnsley - Huddersfield
* All services through Brighouse Station;
o Leeds - Dewsbury - Brighouse - Manchester Victoria (but alternative services are running via Bradford)
o Leeds - Halifax - Brighouse - Huddersfield - Wakefield Westgate (but services to Manchester and Blackpool are running via Bradford)
* Sheffield - Pontefract Baghill - Sherburn-in-Elmet - York
* Doncaster - Adwick (but the service to / from Leeds operates)

UPDATED 9am: First Bus reports via Twitter A64 York Road guideway (second section) currently suspended. Services operating on normal road.

: Drivers in Leeds have been warned that roads could remain dangerously icy, despite being gritted, because of extremely low temperatures, reports the BBC.

Noon update - bus and rail problems

Metro says the following services are affected:

A64 York Road guideway (second section) currently suspended. Services operating on normal road.

* 2 avoiding Brackenwood, but now serving Bodmin Estate.
* 6 now running normally
* 18/19/19A now serving Templegates (Halton)
* 31 and 32 suspended.
* 33A now running normally
* 42 not serving Old Farnley - terminating on the ring road. Also not using North Farm Road - going via Oak Tree Drive.
* 51 & 55 now running normally
* 98/99 not going to East Keswick or East Linton
* 117 main roads only, missing Gawthorpe.
* 153 not serving Landale Road.
* 173/174/175 – main roads only not serving Ringways, Neville Grove, Ledsham, Ledston Village.
* 205 not running via Crackenedge ane, wl Lane or Moorland Avenue
* 209/219/229 - main roads only not serving Hartshead & Smithesmoor Lane.
* 213 not running via Heyburn Road, Chinewood Road, Chinewood, Morley Adsa, Harlington Estate.
* 217 missing Netherton Estate.
* 220/222 - main roads only, not serving Howden Clough, Woodlands, Winyard Drive & Magpie Lane.
* 221 - main roads only not serving Dale Lane, Brighton Street & Peel Street.
* 254/255/X25 - main roads only not serving Windy Bank.
* 425/427 - main roads only
* 481 –main roads only, not serving not serving St Marys.
* 653 & 967 running late due to weather and temp traffic lights at Menston. 967 not serving Menston Village and West Chevin Rd.
* 966 not operating Haw Avenue,Coppice Wood & Moorlands - probably for the remainder of the day

All train operators are experiencing delays due to points failures across the network including locations at:

* South Kirkby Junction between Wakefield and South Elmsall / Moorthorpe
* Apperley Junction - between Leeds and Shipley / Guiseley
* Hammerton
* Barnsley
* Sheffield North
* Darlington
* Eaglescliffe
* Gascoigne Wood - between Leeds and Selby
* Melton Lane - between Selby and Hull


No rail replacement transport will operate where services are suspended, due to road conditions.

East will continue to operate the revised timetable for the rest of the week, with services operating hourly between Leeds and London only. Skipton, Keighley, Bradford Forster Square, Shipley, Harrogate and Horsforth will not see any EC service.

2.10pm: Leeds City Council has so far used over 5,500 tonnes of grit in its efforts to keep main routes open ahead of what is expected to be the businest shopping weekend before Christmas, reports the YEP.
