Sneering Jamie O'Hara fires Rangers barb at Ally McCoist but shock jock nets an own goal

Shock jock Jamie O'Hara aimed a loaded dig at Rangers ahead of their clash with Liverpool but fluffed his punchline in the process.

The former Tottenham star specialises in the outlandish and previously claimed Bournemouth was a bigger job for Steven Gerrard than his then Ibrox post. And he wasn't keen to build bridges as he aimed another pop towards Govan ahead of Wednesday's monumental Champions League showdown.

talkSPORT host Laura Woods offered an apology as she corrected herself after stating the looming encounters between Rangers and Liverpool was the second leg – with both teams locking horns last week. And that acted as a jump off for O'Hara who couldn't resist sticking the boot in. The former Tottenham and Blackpool midfielder said: "The knockout phase of the Europa Conference League, that's where they're going." However, his one-liner appeared misplaced as Rangers can only land in the Europa League if they leapfrog Ajax over their final three matchdays – and the Conference League is NOT an option.

However, Rangers icon Ally McCoist was in a realistic mood over his teams chances of success despite Liverpool's ongoing woe in the English Premier League. He conceded: "It might be our knockout stage."

McCoist, though, isn't ready to the throw in the towel yet and admitted he is just enjoying the ride. He added: "I'm looking forward to, it's great that we're there. Disappointed with what we did with the ball at Anfield but at the same time when I take a step back I think 'dear me, 10 years ago...'

"It's brilliant, we're up against the best, I know Liverpool haven't had the best time but what about Napoli by the way? Another four goals against Cremonese, they are absolutely flying."
