Sneak peek of American restaurant coming to Nuthall with fried chicken, waffles and an outdoor play area

Fried chicken, streaky bacon with maple syrup, and waffles are some of the menu items you can savour when a new American restaurant in Nottingham opens its doors.

Hickory's Smokehouse is bringing the authentic tastes of America's Deep South across the Atlantic and already operates around 11 other restaurants in the UK.

It is the company's first eatery in Notts will be a short trip outside the city centre in Nuthall, just off Woodhouse Way, on Mornington Crescent.

The new restaurant features a cinema room and a new outdoor play area too which is sure to keep young children entertained.

Those keen to try out some of the menu items can book a table from October 4 when the restaurant officially opens.

Hickory's is committed to delivering customers an authentic taste of the Deep South - even ordering smokers from Memphis, USA, that needed to be craned into position earlier this week.

General manager Andy Moore said: ‘We literally cannot wait to open. The whole community here in Nuthall and beyond have been so welcoming and supportive and we are so excited to show them what we have done with the place.

"We hope the people of Nottingham will embrace our love of Southern hospitality and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to our little slice of the Southern states here in the heart of the East Midlands."

Guests can experience a dedicated bar with an extensive drinks list, and a range of quirky dining spaces including a cinema room showing an ever-changing array of films.

And if the inside transformation wasn’t enough the gardens have been cleverly re-designed to include a fun-packed kids zone, complete with a themed slide and climbing frame, plus tonnes of seating options including some unique covered areas.

The team behind Hickory's Smokehouse have transformed the site of the former Old Moor Inn on Mornington Crescent to create an authentic family-dining experience.

Inspired by a trip to South Carolina, the restaurant has created a wraparound veranda for drinking and dining outside.

To hone their pitmaster and barbecue skills, the owners took a road trip across the US visiting more than 70 cities.

A meat fest if ever there was, brunch kicks off with the aforementioned chicken waffle, the great American breakfast and pancake stacks.

Later in the day diners can devour blackened butt steak, ribs, pulled pork and brisket cooked low and slow over hickory wood.

Burgers, hot dogs and chicken wings also appear on the menu.
