Snapchat down: what we know about Snapchat malfunctioning

Snapchat users have taken to Twitter to complain

(Picture: PA Wire)

Snapchat users are reporting problems with the app on Friday morning (September 30).

According to Down Detector, issues started at around 6.52am, with users complaining about not being able to receive or send snaps.

Problems were recorded from Snapchat users across the UK on Down Detector but a large number of reports have come from London and Manchester.

Of the problems reported, 59 per cent relate to problems with login while 24 per cent relate to sharing.

The server connection is said to relate to 17 per cent of the reports.

Users complain about Snapchat on social media

Some users have switched to another social-media platform, Twitter, to complain about the issues.

One wrote: “Snapchat is down since past 1 hr. Not able to send or receive snaps. Please fix it”

Another user, worried about losing their streaks, wrote: “I’ve woke up this morning to my Snapchat not working it’s not sending anything or receiving nothing I have timers on all my streaks and afraid I’ll loose them as the app isn’t working” (sic).

A third user has attempted to fix the problem: “@snapchatsupport hey I’m unable to send snaps atm ans was wondering if that’s because snapchat is down? I’ve already tried clearing cache, reinstalling the app, and logging out of it, aswell as restarting my phone” (sic).

At the time of writing, Snapchat hasn’t addressed the problems and they haven’t confirmed whether they are aware of the issue, although it’s been several hours since the problem first occured.

It seems that the problem is on Snapchat’s part and there is nothing you can do at home to fix the issue, Snapchat’s servers simply appear to be down.

It’s not an uncommon problem to appear on a large social-media app and the support team will likely work on a fix as soon as possible.
