Thousands of Snapchat users have reported problems with sending messages to friends. According to Down Detector there was a massive spike in reports of issues with the service starting at around 6.45am.
People have flocked to Twitter to comment on the issue and to ask if others know what is happening. So far Snapchat has not commented on any problems.
According to Twitter people who try to send a snap are being given an error message. It is affecting messages, photographs and stories.
People asked for advice on whether it was an issue with the messaging app or their own devices. Skykai asked: "Whose snapchat is also down?" And Love island memes questioned: "Is anyone else's snap down. They won't send."
Others were hoping the app would be working again soon. Anu said: "My streaks." Streaks are when users send a snap to each other within 24 hours.
