SNAP recipients in ten states and Puerto Rico to receive payments during April

With the tax deadline already behind, some American households are now preparing to get back their tax refund. If you are a recipient of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps, as they are popularly known, you should prepare to most likely receive yours at the end of the month.

Paying date is not the same in every state, and even the ways in which taxpayers are eligible for benefits is different. For instance, according to La Opinion, some states will be using the Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number, while others will be using social security to determine eligibility.

As of April, 10 states and one territory that will be sending SNAP payments. During this time, recipients should check their EBT cards. Here are the states that have or will be sending SNAP payments as of April.

  • Alabama: from April 4 to 23.
  • Delaware: from April 2 to 23.
  • Florida: from April 1 to 28.
  • Georgia: from April 5 to 23.
  • Indiana: from April 5 to 23.
  • Louisiana: from April 1 to 23.
  • Maryland: from April 4 to 23.
  • Missouri: from April 1 to 22.
  • Puerto Rico: from April 4 to 22.
  • Texas: from April 1 to 28.
  • Washington: from April 1 to 20.

If your state has already sent SNAP benefits for the month of April, you must wait until the May payments are sent out. La Opinion also reminds taxpayers that you may need to renew your benefits in order to ensure a smooth refund process.

The largest amount of money sent out for SNAP is for families of 8 members, and it is up to $1,751. For a family of four members, payment can range from $973 to $713 on average. Families of two or three can receive between $535 to $766. If you are single, you could receive between $291 to $202 on average.

To know when you will receive SNAP payments in your EBT card, you can check the USDA website, where you will see the payment dates and the way in which your state will be administering payment deliveries.
