Snap counts from Indianapolis Colts win over Dolphins

Following the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins, we have Sunday’s snap count figures. So what stood out?

The deeper we get into the NFL season, in most instances, there are fewer observations to make because by this point, the depth chart and rotations are fairly well established.

But regardless, there were still a few noteworthy takeaways to make from Sunday’s snap count figures.

With help from Pro Football Focus, here are the Colts’ snap count figures from Week 7, along with a few quick thoughts:

Snap counts on offense

Dalton Tucker G   62
Ryan Kelly C   62
Anthony Richardson QB   62
Bernhard Raimann T   61
Braden Smith T   61
Quenton Nelson G   60
Michael Pittman Jr. WR   55
Alec Pierce WR   49
Josh Downs WR   38
Mo Alie-Cox TE   33
Trey Sermon HB   32
Tyler Goodson HB   30
Andrew Ogletree TE   25
Ashton Dulin WR   15
Kylen Granson TE   14
Adonai Mitchell WR   14
Matt Goncalves T   3
Will Mallory TE   3
Evan Hull HB   1
Blake Freeland T   1
Tanor Bortolini C   1

Quick takeaways

– The snap counts for Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson were almost equal this week and in terms of carries, Goodson had more opportunities after showcasing more burst with the ball in his hands these past few weeks.

– It’s been the norm these past few games, but Andrew Ogletree continues to out-snap Kylen Granson. In terms of snaps, Ogletree has emerged as TE2 behind Mo Alie-Cox.

– Ashton Dulin continues to see playing time on offense, often equal to or even more than Adonai Mitchell. While, of course, Mitchell’s upside is far greater, there is something to be said for Dulin’s reliability, especially in the run game.

Snap counts on defense

Kenny Moore II CB   69
Nick Cross S   69
Jaylon Jones CB   69
Julian Blackmon S   69
Zaire Franklin LB   69
Grant Stuard LB   64
Dayo Odeyingbo ED   47
Laiatu Latu ED   46
Kwity Paye ED   45
Grover Stewart DI   42
Taven Bryan DI   34
Samuel Womack III CB   32
Raekwon Davis DI   25
Jaylon Carlies LB   21
Segun Olubi LB   21
Adetomiwa Adebawore DI   19
Adam Gotsis ED   15
Isaiah Land ED   2
Rodney Thomas II S   1

Quick takeaways

– Before Jaylon Carlies left the game, he was the nickel linebacker next to Zaire Franklin with Grant Stuard as the SAM backer when in their 4-3 alignment.

– Once Carlies left the game, Stuard was the new nickel linebacker with Segun Olubi then seeing snaps as the third linebacker when in base.

– There was a bit of a wider gap this week compared to most others, but Taven Bryan again saw more playing time than Raekwon Davis.
