Smoke has been seen billowing across the countryside this morning after a fire broke out in a barn.
A barn has caught fire, on Carr Lane, Lathom, near Ormskirk, causing black plumes of smoke to spread across the area. Six fire engines, from Skelmersdale, Ormskirk, Chorley, Bamber Bridge and an aerial appliance are in attendance.
Emergency services have warned people who live in the area to "keep windows and doors closed" due to the blaze. Road closures have been put in place at Carr Lane, leading to heavy traffic between Hoscar Moss Road and Wheat Lane.

Fire crews arrived at the scene at around 8am and are continuing to bring the fire under control.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 08:07 on the 3rd May 2023, six fire engines from Skelmersdale, Ormskirk, Chorley, Bamber Bridge along with the aerial ladder platform from Preston attended a commercial building fire on Carr Lane, Lathom.
"Firefighting operations are underway. If you can see or smell smoke, please keep your windows and doors closed."
