Cheery news of a rare egg (‘One-in-a-billion’ round egg found at farm in Devon to be auctioned, 17 January). Then I read that it is to go under the hammer for charity. Seems a bit extreme.

• Your report states that the US is banning TikTok because it could be used “to control Americans by spreading propaganda and misinformation” (18 January). Does this mean that further bans will be issued on Elon Musk and Donald Trump? My irony meter has just exploded.
