Slug & Lettuce has received praise after introducing an innovative new method to help prevent its drinks being spiked.
Spiking attacks usually involve victims having their drinks contaminated but last year even saw a string of reports from women who believed they had been spiked, alleging they felt something sharp - possibly a needle.
To help prevent drinks being spiked, popular cocktail bar Slug & Lettuce is utilising StopTopps, which are clever, versatile contraptions designed to deter drink spikers.

They help form a barrier, by acting as a lid on top of customers' drinks to stop unwanted substances being added to their beverage. StopTopps are suitable for all drinks commonly found in pubs and clubs, including cans, bottles and glasses.
Slug & Lettuce has garnered positive attention on social media after introducing the safety feature at its bars.
A picture of a round of drinks from the much-loved chain, which has a venue on North John Street just a stone's throw away from the thriving Mathew Street, was shared on hit social media site Facebook.
In the image, a selection of brightly coloured beverages in varying glasses can be seen with the protective coverings. The caption simply said "well done Slug & Lettuce".

In a separate post, Slug & Lettuce Bournemouth said : "Here at Slug and Lettuce safety is our top priority, and with our new Stop Tops we've got you covered against the spiking of drinks. Please feel free to ask any of our bartenders for one at the bar".
A spokesperson for Slug & Lettuce told the ECHO : “The safety of our guests and our team has always been, and remains, our number one priority and we continually review our safety and security procedures to ensure our customers and staff remain safe.
"We are aware there is increasing concern over alleged increases in spiking in clubs and bars, and have therefore enhanced our measures including offering drink protectors and employed Guest Support to assist any guests that are feeling vulnerable or unwell.
"These team members are easily identifiable, as they wear a neon armband. We have enhanced security checks on our door, and we ask guests remain vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious behaviour to one of our team immediately."
