Slovakia Euro 2024 squad: Francesco Calzona's full team

The Slovakia Euro 2024 squad is through to the last 16 of the tournament.

In their opening match of Euro 2024, Slovakia shocked Europe by winning 1-0 against Belgium, and got off to a great start in their second game against Ukraine. However, Ukraine rallied and managed to overturn the deficit, winning 2-1 and setting up a tense final day for all four teams in Group E.

A 1-1 draw in their final game against Romania proved enough for them to finish third, though, ahead of Ukraine on goal difference. Their four points meant they were the best third-place side at the tournament, setting up a last 16 encounter with England as a result.

While virtually everyone will expect Slovakia to lose that game, Francesco Calzona's team are confident of another upset. Indeed, no one expected them to make it out of the group stages, let alone beat Belgium in doing so - the giant-killing might not stop there.

This is a side who have lost Marek Hamsik through retirement, but there are still veterans and dependables in this quad. Milan Skriniar is one of the best defenders in the whole of Europe, David Hancko has been one of the standout defenders in the Eredivie and at 37, Juraj Kucka might be adding to this 106 caps.

As with every Euro 2024 squad, FourFourTwo will bring you all the latest on Slovakia as we report live from the European Championship, including details on their fixtures and how to watch every game

Slovakia manager: Francesco Calzona

After years in Italy as an assistant, Francesco Calzona has overcome initial scepticism to raise Slovakia's results better than anyone had hoped. The 55-year-old demands his teams build from the back and has won many admirers; in taking the Napoll job in February, he was the first Serie A manager to lead a foreign national side concurrently.

Slovakia's star player

David Hancko

David Hancko is an indispensable member of the Slovakian side. The left-footed, ball-playing centre-half fills in at full-back for the national team and complements the gritty Milan Skriniar inside. The 26-year- old defensive linchpin has been ace all season for Feyenoord and could be hot property this summer - Liverpool and PSG are interested.

Qualifying for a third successive European Championship is no mean feat given how low the Falcons had been flying in recent years.
