Sligo Rovers feel they have signed an attacker of ‘immense quality’ after moving to fill the void left by Aidan Keena.
Born in Serbia, current Faroe Islands international Stefan Radosavljevic has joined the Bit O’Red from HB Torshavn on a two-year deal.
He smashed 44 goals in 145 appearances in the Faroes top flight since 2017, and also chipped in with 20 assists.
Sligo Rovers boss John Russell was eager to bolster his forward options after last season’s top scorer Keena left for Cheltenham Town.
Russell said: ‘’I’ve been in talks with Stefan and his agent for a number of months and I’m delighted he has decided to join Sligo Rovers.
‘’Stefan is a player of immense quality. He’s an attacking player who can play as a No 9 or a No 10.
‘’He’s a current Faroese international and, I know from our conversations he is very ambitious and driven to succeed.
‘’He fits the profile of the type of player we want to bring to the club and, I think our fans will enjoy watching him play’.”
Radosavljevic made his senior international bow in a friendly defeat to Czech Republic in November and followed up three days later with a goal in a draw with Kosovo.
He could feature in a pre-season friendly against Finn Harps tomorrow, as the Bit O’Red fine tune ahead of next weekend’s league opener at home to Shamrock Rovers.
Radosavljevic said: “I’m very happy to be here. I can’t wait for the start of the season.”
