Sligo captain Niall Murphy paid a heartfelt tribute to his former teammate Red Og Murphy after the county won the Division Four title on Saturday.
Murphy was the hero for Sligo as he scored 1-04 in a 2-10 to 0-14 victory over Wicklow at Croke Park.
It was a poignant win for the Yeats County as it came on the one-year anniversary of the death of former Sligo player Red Óg Murphy.
And this was not lost on their captain as Murphy dedicated the win to his former teammate.
"A year to the day. A quick, quick year," said Murphy on TG4.
"Days like that were made from Red Óg. Red Óg's legacy will live on and for such a young man, he's a legend of Sligo football."
When Murphy accepted the trophy on the Hogan Stand, he said: "A lot of the lads were very, very close to him.
"Lastly, we lost a very special person last year in Red Óg Murphy. We all miss him dearly.
"This one's for Red."
