We've finally reached the time of year when we can retire our winter textiles to refresh our homes for the warmer months, and one of my favorite switches is introducing some of the latest bedding trends to my sleep space.
Naturally, bedroom trends will shape the way we dress our beds in the coming year, so I've set about doing my research and speaking to the experts to find out all the bedding trends they're loving for 2025.
As a Style & Trends Editor, it is quite literally my job to be on the pulse of the latest must-know trends. From vintage-inspired motifs to TikTok-famous aesthetics, these shoppable schemes should inspire and point you in the right direction of the best places to buy bedding that is both on-trend and expert-approved. Here are the top 5 styles that your bed should be wearing this year.

We all know how to make a bed in principle. It's not rocket science, but there is an art to it. So if you want to know the interior design trends that experts and designers are using to set the tone for a stylish, inviting, and sleep-inducing bedroom this year, here are the key trends to get to know.
1. The fisherman aesthetic
You might have heard of the Fishman Aesthetic, the fun new take on coastal decor that has taken fashion, interiors, and social media by storm. Making waves in 2025, this trend draws inspiration from maritime life, emphasizing natural materials, earthy tones, and nautical motifs to create a cozy, lived-in atmosphere reminiscent of a seaside retreat.
Rhiannon Masters, interior designer and head of brand at Piglet in Bed, says: 'When we think of the Fisherman Aesthetic, we think of the sea, the beach, and even fisherman attire! This helps us to find inspiration for textures and fabrics that we can incorporate into our interiors to effortlessly bring the aesthetic.'
'Stripes are the epitome of the trend, but also think chunky, cable-knit wools, breathable linens, and floaty chiffon, which can be easily added through your soft furnishing choices for the finishing touches,' she suggests. 'Linen is the ideal fabric for bedding, thanks to its breathable and comfortable qualities, whilst cable knit is great for cushions and blankets to add texture and depth to the room.'

2. Scallops, waves, and frills
If you're looking for a more romantic bedroom idea, the ruffled and scalloped decor trend might be more your lane.

'It’s all about turning up the charm with a playful twist,' says Jo Plant, head of design at Pooky. 'Think vintage-inspired details with a side of contemporary cool. We love the idea of mixing the whimsical with the bold: pair a delicate floral with sweet candy hues or strong, grounding tones like forest green to create a space that feels fresh, enchanting, and oh-so-you.'

The key is to balance these pretty elements by layering softly ruffle covers with crisp sheets or pairing scalloped shams with contemporary stripes or adding a colorful throw blanket to ensure the look remains sophisticated rather than overly fussy.

'The checkerboard design continues to be popular because it has an immediate sense of playfulness,' says Claire Greenfield, lead designer at Harlequin. 'It can cast happy, energizing contrasts to a room, draw the eye towards points of visual focus, and can be balanced across a whole host of colors and aesthetic preferences. This versatility and balance of both structure and whimsy means that the checkerboard design isn't going away any time soon.'
Whether woven into linens, throw pillows, or used boldly to create a nook bed as seen above using the Harlequin x Henry Holland's Blenets Check Mini, checkerboard offers a fresh, graphic element that feels both timeless and modern. The real key, however, is layering. Mixing different floral prints with solid-colored bedding in complementary hues creates a beautifully mismatched look while pairing floral duvet covers with a scalloped trim, or incorporating a ruffled pillowcase can help modernize the look. Mixing in gingham or striped accents can also break up the pattern and add depth.
