Skye's the limit as Nicolson calls out champion Serrano

Australian Skye Nicolson is campaigning for a date with undisputed, seven-division champion Amanda Serrano after notching her first stoppage as a professional.

The WBC interim featherweight belt champion dominated Lucy Wildheart in Dublin on Sunday morning (AEST) until the Swede's camp threw in the towel midway through the ninth round.

Nicolson, who won over fans after an emotional split decision quarter-final loss at the Tokyo Olympics, moved to 9-0 barely 18 months after turning professional.

"That's going to keep happening; the better the opponent, the better Skye Nicolson you're going to get," Nicolson, who again refused to sit between rounds, said.

"I want to keep stepping through better opponents, take 50-50 fights and I'll keep showing my level.

"I want people to know I'm a real contender in the featherweight division and I made the statement I wanted to make tonight."

The 28-year-old wants to be made Serrano's mandatory challenger and fight the Puerto Rican early next year to win a world title in her 10th fight.

But Katie Taylor, who beat Chantelle Cameron in the card's main event to become undisputed world super-lightweight champion, could still drop back to fight Serrano in an undisputed blockbuster and scupper the Queenslander's plans.

"Honestly it would be a dream come true, an honour to share the ring with her," Nicolson said.

"That's the fight I want ... I feel I'm ready and should be next in line.

"I want to be world champion in my 10th fight. I have to beat the best and she's the best."
