Sky Sports are set to seal Chris Sutton's signature as they look to lure the pundit from BT Sport.
The former Celtic man has been one of the main contributors with his broadcaster, often happy to make his bold opinions known. Sky though wants Sutton to revamp their coverage of Scottish football coverage as they target a new line-up for next season.
BT Sport will undergo its own changes as its name switches to TNT Sport, but losing one of its leading lights will come as a blow. According to the Daily Mail, Sky wants Sutton to go alongside Rangers legend Kris Boyd and ex-Scotland star James McFadden.
Sutton, who won several titles at Celtic, has been happy to make his loyalties known as a pundit. The Bhoys have dominated in recent years and Sutton hasn't been shy in taking swipes at Rangers when given the opportunity.
The 50-year-old also claimed recently that Ange Postecoglou would be making a downgrade if he left Celtic for Tottenham: "I want Ange Postecoglou to stay at Celtic and have a crack at the CL next season and Tottenham Hotspur is clearly a downgrade/smaller club than Celtic. But nobody can deny the fact that Ange will want a crack at the Premier League down south at some stage…"
The two broadcast giants continue to compete in the British market. Sky retains the majority of Premier League games, with BT offering up the second most. The latter already knows that presenter Jake Humphrey will depart after fronting their coverage for years.
Senior figures now want Laura Woods to replace him with talks being held with the highly-rated broadcaster, who has worked for Sky, DAZN and ITV. BT continues to be the place to watch Champions League football, a rare trump card they have over Sky.
Andrew Georgiou, managing director of Warner Brothers Discovery Sports Europe, has said on the change of name: "The TNT Sports name is already synonymous with premium live sports in a number of countries around the world and a further sign of the global scale and expertise that WBD brings to the partnership with BT."
Sky meanwhile needs to make changes to their Saturday coverage after Jeff Stelling left Soccer Saturday, meaning they must find a new presenter for the popular score programme. The show has seen plenty of change in recent years and is on the lookout for a major name, who has big shoes to fill.
