Sky Sports' Dave Jones gives insight into his role as Sunderland win promotion to Championship

Sky Sports anchor Dave Jones gave a great insight into the role he has at Sunderland as non-executive director. The Black Cats fan is a lifelong supporter and was appointed to his role back in 2019 by Stewart Donald.

At the time, Jones revealed his pride in being appointed a director, promising fans to help get the club back to where it belongs. The recent promotion back to the Championship is the first step towards getting the club on the right track.

Jones was naturally in attendance at Wembley Stadium as the Black Cats defeated Wycombe Wanderers to return to the second tier of English football. He gave a nice insight into his role behind the scenes at the club, prior to kick-off.

He told Sky Sports: "I've been a director of the club for three years and I help when I can, where I can. I ask questions, hold people to account and basically do a similar thing as we do as anchors.

"Asking questions of people and hoping you get the answers you are looking for and if not, trying to find the reasons why."
