Sky's TV plans for Black Friday 2022 - will Sky Glass be reduced?

Sky often unveil some mega discounts in the run up to Black Friday. Many TV companies will be gearing up for a busy few weeks ahead, competing to give shoppers the very best deals to entice them to switch.

Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping periods of the year and takes place on the last working Friday of November every year. This year's event will take place on Friday, November 25 with Cyber Monday following afterwards on November 28, 2022. Both days aim to give shoppers exclusive deals and officially mark the countdown in the shopping calendar to Christmas.

The event originally came from the USA but is now recognised globally for its bargain, enticing offers. The shopping market is saturated with Black Friday deals though so it can be difficult to know whether the deal you are going for is a good one. However, if you're thinking of buying a new TV or switching to a new TV contract then Sky is a popular name to be involved with, but their deals aren't always the best out there.

With this in mind we have compiled a list of everything you need to know about Sky TV's offering for Black Friday 2022, including current deals and what they offered buyers last year. It was a busy time for the telecoms company as they launched their new Sky Glass TV in October, so what's in store for them next?

When is Sky TV's Black Friday sale?

It was an exciting time for Sky last year as they launched the Sky Glass TV in October so the months that followed was the introduction to the first-of-a-kind streaming TV which doesn't require a satellite or TV box, read about it here. Sky don't usually announce any deals until the day itself.

Last year the launched a host of offers on their TV section on the day before Black Friday, November 25, 2021. So if you're waiting for any new deals to come with Sky TV this year I would keep their landing page saved here, and earmark the date of November 24, 2022 as well as Black Friday itself (November 25 2022).

What to expect this Black Friday at Sky TV?

Sky received criticism last year for their TV deals. The tech giant hosts offers all year-round and because they do many existing customers and new customers to Sky felt as though their Black Friday deals were no different.

For Black Friday 2021 Sky's 'Ultimate TV' was their cheapest available bundle, but the £26 per month price tag was no different from what you shoppers would have seen had they browsed the page a month. Similarly, 'Sky Glass' was still listed at the same price it was upon its October launch.

However, that didn't mean there wasn't savings to be found, it was just sparse on the TV side of things. Their broadband and mobile packages seemed to have more of an offering.

It's hard to say what Sky will do for their TV offering this year but I suspect it may slightly better than last year's event as the Sky Glass TV will be more than one year old. They mainly possibly bring out discounts on this TV package as well as the Sky Puck, which you can read more about it here.

Discounts will also be seen on their Sky Q packages with Netflix and their new Paramount+ channel possibly in the mix too. Their £26 a month price is one they need to beat from last year's event.

Current deals at Sky TV

Currently, Sky is offering deals on their existing TV packages. Customers can get Sky Q (Sky's TV box) with Sky TV channels, and Netflix for £26 a month for 18 months, with a set up charge of £20. Or there's the Sky Q, Sky TV, Netflix, Sky Cinema and Paramount+ package for £38 a month for 18 months, with a set up charge of £20.

Those who want Sky Sports can get the Sky Q, Sky TV, Netflix and Sky Sports package for £44 a month instead of £51 a month for 18 months. The kids package comes in at £32 a month for 18 months and the Sky Sports and BT Sport bundle is the most expensive Sky Q package at £69 a month for 18 months.

If you're thinking of buying a Sky Glass TV then Sky offer a range of packages for this too which allows customers to pay off the price of the TV while paying for Sky at the same time. The Sky Glass, Sky TV and Netflix package is £37 a month for 48 months, whereas the Sky Glass and Cinema Bundle is £48 a month for 48 months, see all of the Sky Glass deals here.

Our thoughts

For Sky to stand out this year they have to offer discounts on the Sky Glass TV. Their new TV, which requires users to have a Sky subscription to use, will have been out for 12 months this October 2022.

As we are in a cost of living crisis then reductions need to be big and different to last year's Black Friday 2021 event. For those who want to stick with Sky for their TV viewing then I would hope Sky would pull some good offers out of the bag, one's that are cheaper than their current TV deal of £26 a month.
