Sky launch new gadget that lets you stream TV without a satellite dish

Sky has added a brand new gadget to its media outlet, allowing all customers to stream its service without a satellite dish or a Sky Glass TV.

Sky Stream Puck will be available as a standalone device and lets users enjoy the Sky Glass experience - including live TV and on-demand apps - through Wi-Fi.

Previously only customers with Sky's new all-in-one television set could watch and subscribe to Sky channels without a satellite dish or Sky box. However, the broadcaster has launched the Sky Stream Puck to allow those without a Glass TV to upgrade their home entertainment set-up.

The puck has been created to switch up any TV with voice control, tailored recommendations and heaps of playlists, all of which you'd get with Sky Glass.

Users can create a playlist with their favourite shows across apps, channels, the TV guide and on demand by pressing the plus button. The gadget is also UHD HD and Dolby Atmos ready and comes with a small voice remote made with streamers in mind.

It will position Sky against the likes of Amazon Fire TV stick, Apple TV and Roku.

Sky hasn't yet revealed the price of its Sky Stream puck as the device is set to be released later this year.

If you're keen to watch Sky channels via broadband, but don't want to wait for the puck to launch, you can opt for the Sky Glass TV. It’s currently the only TV built with Sky, meaning users can stream all channels, shows and apps the service has to offer through WiFi, with no dish or wires needed.

Sky Glass went on sale last year in October with monthly payment plans starting at £13 a month for a 43-inch TV. Additional pucks have been priced at £10 a month.
