Sky has launched its fastest broadband package ever - with speeds around 25 times faster than the average Sky broadband speed.
The new Sky Broadband Gigafast offer gets customers a whopping 900Mbps (megabits per second) which is far higher than average broadband speeds which are typically around 50Mbps according to Ofcom's 2021 report.
Although you'll be whizzing your way through life, it doesn't come cheap as you'll have to fork out £55 a month to take advantage of the ultra-fast speeds.
However, if you have a busy household with multiple people streaming boxsets on Netflix, making WhatsApp video calls, filming TikTok's and downloading software updates to different devices, it's definitely worth investing in faster broadband to stay connected without the interruptions.
Thankfully Sky is also offering a Speed Guarantee for 600Mbps, meaning if your speed falls below that level, you can claim back a month's subscription - we're sold!
Sky says the new package is aimed at busy homes where multiple people are using lots of devices for intense activities.
"Sky Broadband Gigafast offers WiFi hungry homes the ability to connect lots of devices at any one time," said Sky's Aman Bhatti.
Aman described the speeds as "game-changing".
And he said they would be up to 25 times faster than a standard Sky connection – which is around 36Mb/s.
Sky says you'll be able to connect over 120 devices at once.
Gigafast joins the Sky Broadband family with a range of fibre packages, including:
- Superfast 35 – 36Mbps
- Superfast – 59Mbps
- Ultrafast – 145Mbps
- Ultrafast Plus – 500Mbps
- Gigafast – 900Mbps
The catch is that this is a full-fibre package, so you can only get the speeds if you live somewhere with fibre-to-the-property broadband.
If you want to go that step further to securing fast speeds, you can choose to add-on Sky Broadband Boost.
This is a £5 a month bundle that guarantees you minimum speeds plus Wi-Fi coverage in every room.
Sky Gigafast costs £55 a month on an 18-month contract, with a £10 activation fee. The new package available at the same price for new and existing customers from today.
