Skittles, Peanut and Branston - these adorable dogs need you to help them find a home

Three dogs with delicious food inspired names are aiming to attract some fellow foodies as their forever families. Skittles, Peanut and Branston are all current residents at Manchester Dogs Home, and hope their adorable names and of course, their beautiful faces, will get them adopted.

The pooches all vary in age, breed and personality, and so are each looking for their own homes with loving families after finding themselves in rescue.

Dawn Bishop, Dogs Trust Manchester Manager said: “If you are a food and dog lover then look no further than Skittles, Peanut and Branston. The trio are all absolutely adorable in their own individual ways and are each hoping for a family and home to call their own.”

Five-year-old border collie Skittles is said to be perfectly named because ‘he’s the sweetest boy’. He has a sensitive side so is looking for a patient, adult only home where he is the only pet, and can go for quiet walks so his new family can help with his socialisation and build his confidence around other dogs.

The centre said: “He very quickly becomes a firm favourite of everyone he meets and will no doubt melt your heart too. Skittles isn’t the biggest fan of being alone and adores human company. He seeks a lot of reassurance from people and would benefit from a family who can be around for most of the day to help settle him in and work on building up his leaving hours at a pace he is comfortable with.

“He is a classic Collie in lots of ways, so breed experience or knowledge, or a family who are happy to research, will really benefit Skittles.” The pup is also a big foodie himself, and is always happy to enjoy a tasty treat.

Also looking for a new home is Peanut - a Staffordshire bull terrier cross with some fantastic ears. Peanut is described as a ‘sweetheart’ who is very playful and loves her stuffed toys.

The four-year-old dog is looking for an adult only home, where she is the only pet and can soak up all of the attention from her new family.

Dogs Trust added: “She can find the world quite an overwhelming place at times, so would like a quiet home to settle her paws. This gorgeous girl has stolen the hearts of all her handlers here at the centre and will shower you with love and affection once she knows you.”

Peanut's new home would ideally be in a more rural area, as she struggles with noisy environments, and quiet areas are where she feels most comfortable.

“She will definitely prefer to utilise a nice, large garden, rather than want to head out for loads of walks,” said the charity, “therefore she’d love a home with a secure, private garden without any neighbouring dogs to enjoy.”

The youngest dog looking for a home is Branston - named after the popular brand of pickles. This one-year-old pup is a Great Dane cross labrador who loves nothing more than having a good run around and a play.

He is a big foodie, which is ‘very handy’ when it comes to continuing his training, the rescue says.

Dogs Trust said: “Branston will need quite a specific home in a quiet area that doesn't have a high passing footfall. He would be best suited to an adult only home, where his new family can focus all of their love and attention towards him.

“Branston would like to be the only dog in the home, but he does enjoy meeting other friendly dogs when he is out and about and will have a sniff and a walk with them, however he does prefer calm dogs. He is able to live with a dog-savvy feline friend.”
