Baker Mayfield has now found himself essentially homeless in the NFL as the Cleveland Browns have traded for Deshaun Watson. And now Skip Bayless of FS1 thinks that the New York Giants should help Baker find a new home.
Mayfield has been an average quarterback since entering the league, highlighted by his record rookie season. He has totaled 14,125 passing yards and 92 touchdowns in his four years with the Browns.
However, when it comes to winning, Mayfield has struggled. He has a 29-30 record as an NFL quarterback and has underwhelmed with a very talented roster. This is why the Browns went out and got Watson — a very talented quarterback with an awful roster.
The Giants have had faulty quarterback play for the past few seasons and due to this Bayless thinks that the Giants should pursue Mayfield. He believe that Mayfield could “light up New York City” and in turn, he can right the ship of the failing Giants organization.

Mayfield and Daniel Jones have a troubled past, and a trade for Baker would only heighten that. They have supposedly buried the hatchet from the mild dispute, but Baker had some questionable comments about Jones getting drafted.
“I cannot believe the Giants took Daniel Jones,” Mayfield said at the time, according to GQ. “Blows my mind. … Some people overthink it. That’s where people go wrong. They forget you’ve gotta win.
“Either you have a history of winning and being that guy for your team or you don’t.”
Both quarterbacks have not really panned out and it looks like both of their franchises will be moving on from their respective quarterbacks barring a breakout season from Jones in 2022.
